VECTRA® 3D Imaging Used in Experimental Study to Measure the Effects of Injectables and Facial Fillers
Canfield’s VECTRA 3D imaging system has been used to assist researchers as they conducted an experimental study focused on the effects of injectables and facial fillers. The study suggested that dermal fillers’ “volumizing” effects may also lead to subsequent “lifting effects”, as it suggests that lateral facial injections co-influence adjacent lateral facial regions. Sebastian Cotofana, MD, PhD and his team at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota measured the effects of the injections on specially prepared specimens by using VECTRA 3D imaging. The before-and-after scans from the VECTRA system showed that the dermal fillers led to significant increases in local soft tissue volume and local lifting effects on central facial injection areas, including “up to one millimeter of vertical ‘lift’ in the forehead area”.
